In Search of a Monetary Constitution

In eleven lectures given at the Thomas Jefferson Center for Studies in Political Economy at the University of Virginia, the contributors start from a concept of the “good society,” premising that economic decentralization is vital to human freedom. Describing what reforms are needed, they offer widely divergent solutions—from philosophy to technique, from stabilized to unrestricted pricing. The editor, inquiring why men with similar goals should disagree so sharply, concludes that their views depend less on pure economics than on value judgments and data from fields like political science and psychology.
